The Sad Decline of Ricky Davis

Our old friend Ricky Davis was back in the news yesterday after calling the Portland Trailblazers a "pack of roaches". WHAT WILL HE DO NEXT?!? Apparantly, being called a "pack of roaches" is enough to fire up the Portland Trailblazers. Being called a "cockroach" is enough material for a halftime speech by Nate the Snake McMillian. It's enough for Martell Webster shake his head and vow to "never forget". It's also enough material for two fascinating columns in the Oregonian. Don't read them, your head will explode. In fact, Dr. BP would advise minimal doses of sports columnists. Except, of course, for Skip Bayless... I can't go a day without reading good 'ol Skip's uncloseting another homosexual! Sports journalism at its best, folks!
It's sad to see that Ricky Davis is becoming the sideshow clown again. It's also sad to open up a Blazers link and not get ye olde "Darius Miles beating up a prostitute for crack money" story. But saddest of all is realizing that trash talk in the NBA has declined to the point where calling a team "cockroaches" is unforgettable bulletin-board material. What happened to the days of "Sorry Charles"? Why did Michael Jordan go from "The Mailman doesn't deliver on Sundays" to calling an 18-year-old orphan a "faggot"?
I don't know, but since it is a trend that sucks in the NBA, I am going to go ahead and blame David Stern.
